An Era Long Past - St. John, USVI

This image was almost lost. I came across it tonight and I don't think I had posted it before on my blog. This is another photo of the ruins you can find throughout St. John. What is great about these ruins is you can walk right up to them and through them and sit among them thinking about the era that has long gone. Almost all the ruins on St. John are from the Sugar Plantation era where European colonist settled on the islands to try their hand at the sugar industry. When slavery was abolished the industry became unsupportable financially and this era on St. John came to an end.

  1. Ruins today had purpose and even grandure a few generations ago. Nature get's it back eventually. Thank you Laurence R.
Textures are rich and the green patches in the ruins show Mother Nature continues her work.
I'll be on island 5/26 for 10 days. Can't wait!
    Thanks Jason.
