Guest Photographer Thursday - DJ Schulte

Today is guest photographer Thursday and I am proud to showcase another Austin area photographer DJ Schulte. DJ also has a passion for HDR photography and seems to poses the same sense of adventure that I do. You can often find photographs from Texas state parks and great Texas landscapes as well as some great travel photos. The featured photograph below is titled Sunset on the Perdanales River and showcases DJ's photography talent exceptionally. DJ Can be found in several places. One of the best places to follow him is his blog Oxherding is Fun (DJ please enlighten us on the name) I like this blog because DJ does an excellent job of mixing in his excellent images with some great cometary and tips such as this post To HDR or not to HDR Every post on his blog is one worth reading so bookmark or put him in your feed reader. If just looking at his wonderful images is more your style check him out on Flickr. Or if your are a twitter guy or gal you guessed it @Oxherder_Arts. So take a gander at his photo below and go pay him a visit on his blog.

I am honored and many thanks for adding me to your Thursdays! One of the best things about social media and photography is the virtual communities we build. I am inspired by your work and others that I continually get to witness.

Per my photography, I have always liked nature (being immersed in nature) and I have always tried to find ways to create and I often ponder the spiritual side of life. These three things drive my photographic and other artistic pursuits. I have no qualms about creating an image of nature from my mind's eye thus HDR and other digital artistic tools excite my imagination.

"Oxherder" comes from a very old taoist and zen parable told through words and painted images -- I am a frustrated writer so this appeals to me. They combine nature, art and the spiritual (those three things above) so I took my studio and business name from that. "Oxherding is Fun" comes from my need to remember to keep this endeavor a fun adventure. We can get very serious about art/nature/spiritual stuff so its a reminder to lighten up and enjoy the act of creating.

Again, thanks and I hope you enjoy my work.

DJ - I agree and am facinated by the thoughts of how social media is changing the playing field. Thaks for the story behind Oxherding is fun! I like it, I was thinking along the lines of herding cats but your story makes more sense.
